Voter Information

The Goshen Central School District budget vote and board member election will occur on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Please see the information below to ensure you have taken the necessary steps to be able to place your vote (in-person, absentee ballot, early mail ballot, or military voter ballot).

Polling location:

At the district office in the Main Street Building, 227 Main Street in Goshen.

You are a qualified voter if you are a:

  • U.S. Citizen;
  • 18 years of age or older by the day of the vote;
  • Resident of the district for 30 days immediately preceding the vote;
  • Registered to vote with the district or County Board of Elections

If you meet the first three voter qualifications listed but have not registered to vote, you must register in order to vote in the School Budget Vote.

Voter registration options:

Please note: all registrations must be completed before the 14th day preceding the vote (May 7, 2024).

Voting by Absentee Ballot

Registered voters may request and use an Absentee Ballot in advance of the election if they are unable to vote in person for any of the following reasons:

  • Absence from the county on election day
  • Temporary illness or physical disability
  • Permanent illness or Physical disability
  • Duties related to primary care of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled
  • Resident or patient of Veterans Health Administration Hospital
  • Detention in jail/prison, awaiting trial, awaiting action by a grand jury, or in prison for conviction of a crime or offense which was not a felony

To apply for an Official Absentee Ballot you must first be a registered voter with the Goshen Central School District. If you are not a registered voter, you may not receive an absentee ballot.

If you are registered, we will consider your application. The Absentee Ballot Application must be filled out, dated, and signed.

Where and when to return this application:

  • If you request that the absentee ballot be mailed to you, your application must be received by the district clerk for your school district no later than 7 days before the election for which you seek an absentee ballot (May 14, 2024). 
  • Otherwise, you may personally deliver your application to the district clerk no later than the day before the election (May 20, 2024):

When your absentee ballot will be sent to you:

  • If you request that the absentee ballot be mailed to you, the district clerk will mail your ballot by regular mail no later than 6 days prior to the election (May 15, 2024). 
  • Otherwise, the district clerk will deliver your ballot to you or your agent, as designated on your application, when you or your agent appears in the district clerk’s office:

For your absentee ballot to be canvassed, it must be received by the school district clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the election (May 21, 2024).

Voting by Early Mail Ballot

Unlike absentee voting, voters requesting an early mail ballot need not supply a reason why they cannot appear in person at the polls on election day. Registered voters may request and use an Early Mail Ballot Application in advance of the election. This application must be filled out, dated, and signed.

Where and when to return this application:

  • If you request that the early mail ballot be mailed to you, your application must be received by the district clerk for your school district no later than 7 days before the election for which you seek an early mail ballot (May 14, 2024). 
  • Otherwise, you may personally deliver your application to the district clerk no later than the day before the election (May 20, 2024):

Military Voters

Members of the military may register to vote in the Goshen Central School District Budget vote only using: GCSD Military Voter Registration Application. Service members who wish to register as Military Voters with the county or state should contact the appropriate Board of Elections.

Application for a military ballot must be received by the district clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 25, 2024.  Military ballots will be mailed or otherwise distributed no later than 25 days before the election (April 26, 2024).  Military ballots must be returned by mail or in person, and received by the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on May 21, 2024.

Military voters must submit a separate military ballot application for each election at which they wish to cast a vote, with the exception of any necessary budget revote.
