Goshen alumni inducted into Gladiator Athletic Hall of Fame for 2024

Three Goshen High School alumni and one sports team were inducted into the Gladiator Hall of Fame on Feb. 6, 2024. The Goshen Central School District congratulates them for earning this prestigious recognition.

Patrick Burke, Class of 2011 – Alpine Ski

“As a Goshen senior, with his unique talent and unwavering determination on the slopes, Patrick won the 2011 NYSPHSAA Alpine Skiing Championship. Patrick remains the first and only state champion skier in the history of Goshen High School. This was a well-deserved title, but it was not an easy championship to win. Patrick broke a ski pole upon exiting the starting gate on his final run, and had to navigate the course at a distinct disadvantage to win the title in this race. Patrick has a lifelong passion for the sport of competitive skiing. It was fostered at a young age and continues to this day, with his work developing young skiers into future champions in Colorado.”

Jennifer (Mendres) Dendanto, Class of 1987 – Soccer

“During Jennifer’s extraordinary two-year varsity career, she recorded an astonishing school record of 23 shutouts– a record that still stands as the most shutouts ever recorded in a career. She was recognized as an all-star goalie and as a key component on two championship teams coached by current Goshen Hall of Fame member, Al Hoerup. These teams established the benchmark, tradition, and legacy of success that has endured to this day in our Girls’ Soccer program. This photo first appeared on the back cover of the Times Herald Record newspaper. It captures her triumph, her spirit, and her lifelong passion for the sport of soccer which continued for decades beyond high school.”

Nick Tolen, Class of 2006 – Football

“Nick had an outstanding three-year varsity football career at Goshen as an offensive and defensive lineman. During his varsity career, he received recognition as the top lineman in Section IX Football. He was a two-time Section IX all-star selection under the guidance of Head Coach Chip Elliot. He culminated his honors in his senior year with the prestigious achievement of a New York State All-State selection. Nick’s dedication, leadership, talent, and spirit propelled him to athletic success beyond high school. He attended St. Olaf College in Minnesota on an academic/athletic scholarship. During his college career, he was a four-year starter and all-conference defensive lineman on a nationally ranked team.”
