Lockdown system gets upgrade districtwide

Goshen Central School District is improving its safety measures in all schools by upgrading its lockdown system. The upgrade includes automated calling features that immediately alert district officials, as well as law enforcement, of a threat.

When the cover is lifted and the button is pressed in one of our hallways, the InformaCast lockdown system is activated:

  • Lockdown procedure is in effect
  • Local authorities are instantly notified in an automated call
  • Flashing blue light throughout school hallways
  • School staff and administrators immediately receive email, text, call notifications
  • Exterior doors locked

Over the winter recess, the district completed drills with Goshen police that tested the effectiveness and timing of the system.

“As a district, we are committed to providing safety measures to all students, staff and visitors within our schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Kurtis Kotes. “We believe in the InformaCast system’s ability to instantly alert the necessary parties of an incident taking place.”
