#FacultyFriday: Teresa Batista

This week’s #FacultyFriday is dedicated to one of Goshen Intermediate School’s newest team members, Teresa Batista — an AIS Reading and Math teacher who started with us in September of this year.

After working in education for the past 17 years and graduating from WGU with her master’s degree in Childhood Education, Batista is excited for her journey in Goshen.

“I was very excited to come join Goshen Schools as I have always heard and read about the amazing community that Goshen is,” she said. “I moved to Orange County in 2011, to Campbell Hall, and since then have been so amazed by the community and schools in Goshen.”

As for her goals? Batista said she wants to be a teacher who represents first-generation kids.

“I want students like me, the first-generation in school in America, to feel heard and seen,” she said. “I want to encourage them to work hard so they will make the efforts of their parents to leave home worth the trip.”

Batista is most looking forward to the bonds that will grow between herself, her students, and their families this year.

BONUS fun fact: If Batista could travel back in time, she would go to the ’50s and ’60s in America because she loves the music and the unity the country showed during that time.

“I would have loved to see and hear Elvis in person!” she said.

Thank you for all you do, Teresa Batista! We appreciate you!
