This week the Goshen Central School District is recognizing Goshen Intermediate School Special Education Teacher Nicole Hernandez, an educator who has worked in the district for 23 years.

Hernandez is dual certified in general and special education and has 27 years of experience with both. She earned her bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and her master’s degree in Special Education from SUNY New Paltz before joining the Goshen CSD in 2001.

When asked “Why Goshen?” Hernandez simply stated: “GIS is my second family. We care deeply about out kids because they ARE our kids, from the time they enter our classroom and beyond.”

She is just as certain about her goals as a teacher as well.

“My goal is to make sure that all students have a solid education,” Hernandez said, “so that they can become great citizens and take care of our world.”

Outside work, Hernandez enjoys traveling, reading, knitting and spending time with family.

BONUS FACT: Her favorite food is Chinese food!

Thank you so much, Nicole Hernandez, for all you do. We appreciate you!
