CJH names February Students of the Month


The C.J. Hooker Middle School announced its Students of the Month for February. Students of the Month are:

  • Respectful – The student treats classmates, teachers and staff with respect by valuing each as an individual, respecting differences, and valuing the work that others do;
  • Responsible – The student embraces the responsibility required to maintain progress in their schoolwork and other personal goals;
  • Positive – The student contributes to the success of the school by promoting a positive school climate through their actions and words;
  • Honest – The student communicates truthfully and in a respectful way with classmates, teachers, staff and refrains from dishonesty in completing academic work; and
  • Committed to success – The student strives for success in all they do and works to the best of their ability.

Grade 6

  • We proudly recognize Emily Garbutt from the 6th grade Yellow Team as our Student of the Month. Emily’s inquisitive nature, positivity, creativity, kindness, and hardworking attitude make her an exemplary student. She approaches every challenge with curiosity, spreads positivity among her peers, brings creativity to every task, extends kindness to those around her, and consistently demonstrates dedication and hard work. Emily’s outstanding qualities make her a role model for her classmates and a true asset to our school community. Congratulations, Emily, on this well-deserved recognition!
  • Emma Springer is a responsible, kind and hardworking student. Although she can be somewhat quiet, she is friendly and helpful. She takes her schoolwork seriously and always strives to do her best. Emma will ask questions, learn from her mistakes and provide thoughtful reflection. Her positive attitude and work ethic really make her stand out. Congratulations, Emma!
  • Fatima Barry is a hard working young lady, who we are so proud to nominate as student of the month! Fatima comes in ready to learn, and get the job done! Even though Fatima may be quiet, she is always thinking, and willing to share her thoughts with the class. Fatima is extremely kind, polite and respectful to both her peers and teachers. Fatima’s positive attitude makes her a clear choice as a role model for her peers, and an excellent choice for our student of the month! Congratulations Fatima!
  • Massimo Mastroserio has been doing so well this quarter. He has put in so much effort into studying and reviewing for tests and quizzes. He does his homework and is trying his best. Massimo is sweet and caring. He is always there to help a friend out who needs it at any time.

Special Areas

  • Madelyn Arfsten is a very kind and respectful person. She does a beautiful job in chorus class and all the extra groups she is a member of. She always has a sweet and positive attitude. Madelyn is a wonderful example to others in class and really impresses us with her musical talent. Great job!

Grade 7

  • Caiden Gerstner is a very polite, and reserved, but hardworking, and trustworthy young man. Caiden is prepared and follows directions, which demonstrates a strong level of responsibility. Caiden is also thoughtful, which is evident as he completes his assignments, with attention to detail. Caiden was even one of five team finalists who moved on to compete at the school level spelling bee! Great job, Caiden! Keep up the great work!
  • Gabriella McManus is a respectful and hard-working student. She is self-motivated and makes sure to fulfill all her academic responsibilities. She is always on time, always prepared, and consistently tries her best. Gabriella is the type of person who does the right thing even when nobody’s watching- which some may say is the true definition of a person’s character. She has a mature sensibility that makes her a great role model. While Gabriella may be on the quiet side, her expressiveness lets you know a lot, and conveys a wonderful sense of humor. Congratulations on being selected as Student of the Month!

Special Areas

  • Lucy Davila is a leader in the classroom. She demonstrates initiative in many aspects of her daily life, especially in school. When working with other students she contributes her creative ideas and listens to the feedback of her peers. Lucy often holds herself accountable for succeeding in the classroom by working hard each and everyday. She is able to redesign her goals and strategies in order to find success. Lucy is a positive role model to those around her. Great Job!

Grade 8

  • Olivia Herlihy is an incredibly diligent and responsible student who comes to class prepared, works well with others, and actively participates in class. Olivia is respectful, kind, and committed to academic success. She has a positive attitude and never hesitates to assist others. Congratulations to Olivia!
  • Anabelle Aaronson is a bright and diligent student. She is a dependable participant in class offering insightful additions to class discussions. Annabelle is well poised and well disciplined and takes advantage of every opportunity to grow her understanding and appreciation of all of her subjects. She is motivated, friendly, and helpful and gets along well with both her peers and with her teachers.  Annabelle is relentless in her pursuit of excellence and finds great success in and out of the classroom. She is a very talented, but humble person who is a great model and a fantastic addition to all of her classes.

Special Areas

  • Sophia (Sophie) Marmo is a wonderful person and student. She is responsible and disciplined. She is kind and supportive to others around her. Sophie is a terrific help to the Annie, Jr. production, and the show would be less magical without her! Congratulations to Sophie!
