CJH names April Students of the Month


The C.J. Hooker Middle School announced its Students of the Month for March. Students of the Month are:

  • Respectful – The student treats classmates, teachers and staff with respect by valuing each as an individual, respecting differences, and valuing the work that others do;
  • Responsible – The student embraces the responsibility required to maintain progress in their schoolwork and other personal goals;
  • Positive – The student contributes to the success of the school by promoting a positive school climate through their actions and words;
  • Honest – The student communicates truthfully and in a respectful way with classmates, teachers, staff and refrains from dishonesty in completing academic work; and
  • Committed to success – The student strives for success in all they do and works to the best of their ability.

Grade 6

Xavi Espinosa Perez has worked hard all year in all subject areas. Xavi is always kind and respectful to his peers and his teachers. He is always willing to go above and beyond to help others! Xavi is always responsible and prepared to learn in his classes. It is an absolute pleasure to nominate Xavi as the student of the month for the purple team! Congratulations Xavi!

Mackinnon Smykla shines as our Student of the Month on the Yellow Team. She’s mature, responsible, and kind, setting a high standard for her peers. Mackinnon tackles challenges with poise, stays on top of her work, and treats everyone with warmth and respect. She’s a true role model in our classroom, and we’re proud to celebrate her achievements. Congratulations, Mackinnon!

Madelyn Arfsten (Maddie) is a kind and responsible student. She has shown tremendous growth in effort throughout the year and that effort has really paid off. Maddie completes all assignments on time. She is very engaged and actively participates in class. She is always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. In addition to her effort in the classroom, Maddie has demonstrated remarkable talent in the music program.  We are very proud of Maddie and we look forward to seeing her shine throughout the rest of her middle school years. Congratulations!

Zachary Rosado Over the course of the year, Zach has shown a growing dedication to his studies. He frequently stays after school to prepare for tests and is very conscientious regarding his work. He always makes sure his homework and class assignments are complete. Zach shows kindness to his fellow classmates by always being willing to help them. If someone is in need of a pencil or other supplies. Zach is always willing to share his. Great job, Zach! Keep up the good work!

Special Areas

Luke Hand is an amazing and kind student. He is a fantastic member of the 6th Grade Band where he plays the trombone. Luke works hard, leads by example, and is always eager to participate whenever possible! What a great role model for others to follow. Congratulations on a well deserved honor!

Grade 7

Peter Marotta is polite and always prepared for class, ready to learn. Peter consistently shows a strong sense of responsibility by seeking clarification when he feels he needs to. Peter is a hard worker independently, and is also supportive to his peers when working collaboratively. Peter’s active participation stands out to all of his teachers. Congratulations, Peter. Keep up the good work!

Sahar Harchaoui is an extremely responsible and hard-working student. She takes pride in her work which is evident by the amount of effort shown on all her assignments. Sahar goes out of her way to show people that she cares. She writes lovely cards and notes to her teachers on special occasions, will lend classmates her supplies, and always speaks kindly to her peers. Although she can seem quiet and reserved, Sahar also has a great sense of humor. Sahar sets a wonderful example for others with her work ethic, and her kind and respectful nature. Congratulations on being recognized as our Student of the Month!

Special Areas

Dominica Celio is a beautifully talented musician and always maintains a wonderful attitude. She is an excellent role model for others in all of her classes. Dominica continues to be enthusiastic & respectful each and every day in class and is an absolute pleasure to teach. Great job!

Grade 8

Emily Carroll is consistently conscientious and academically ambitious. She is diligent, studious and hardworking. She is an articulate and insightful participant in class discussions. She is well mannered and incredibly respectful. Emily is gracious in her interactions between adults and peers alike. She is kind as well as creative with a great sense of humor.  She is driven to do her best and sets a great example for other students.

Ana Mendez Aldana is a respectful and hard working student who always comes to class with a positive attitude and a desire to succeed. Ana works well with others and puts forth her best effort on a daily basis. She is diligent, kind, and a pleasure to teach! Congratulations to Ana!

Special Areas

Kaeyden Hernandez is an excellent singer, performer, and student. He sets a great example for others to follow. He continues to be extremely dedicated and always does his very best in all areas of music. Kaeyden has a great personality and is a pleasure to teach! Great job!!
