Goshen High School once again had students perform in Carnegie Hall. Hear what Ella and Aiden had to say about their experience as part of the Honors Performance Series.
Ella Eulau

Ella is a 10th grade student at Goshen High School who has been playing flute since third grade. Ella performed in the Carnegie Hall Honors Orchestra. See what she had to say about her experience:
What was it like to perform at Carnegie Hall?
It was amazing. The sound in there is so nice. It’s a beautiful stage. We got our own room to warm up in, but when we got on the stage, looking into the audience was beautiful.
How did it feel to be selected to perform with other student musicians at Carnegie Hall?
It was really cool. I met people from Texas, California, a bunch of states. Everyone was so different, but we all had one thing in common, and it’s music. It was really fun and the people I met were really nice.
How long did you have to practice?
Eight hours a day for three days leading up to the performance. We were there for four days total.
Aiden Meyers

Aiden is a 12th grade student that started playing music in Goshen in fourth grade. Aiden plays 15 instruments in total, but was chosen to play the tenor saxophone in the Carnegie Hall Honors Band. Here is Aiden’s experience performing at Carnegie Hall in his words:
What was it like to perform at Carnegie Hall?
It was an unforgettable experience. It was astonishing looking out at one of the best performance halls in the world. Getting to see what other famous composers got to look out and see when they performed there. Knowing that you’re one of the best, and being able to experience that with people that you made friends with.
How did it feel to be selected to perform with other student musicians at Carnegie Hall?
I felt very proud of myself. I remember getting the email back that I was selected to be one of the finalists of over four countries represented, the farthest being China and New Zealand. Being there, I felt very proud knowing that when I went there, I was going to be able to see people of different backgrounds and where they came from, and be able to make a connection with them and bond through music.
What songs did you perform?
The first song we performed was, Shimmering Sunshine by Kevin Day. The second one was Riften Wed by Julie Giroux. The last one was Desert Sage by Michael Markowski.
