This week’s spotlight is on a new Goshen High School administrator, Assistant Principal Jenelle Hindell, who joined the district a couple weeks ago.
Hindell has a career history in education that started with assistant director roles in admissions and marketing at both the College of Saint Rose (2003-2005) and Teachers College at Columbia University (2005-2007). She then served as a social studies teacher for the New York City Department of Education from 2007 to 2016, before returning to administrative roles south of Denver, Colorado as dean of students and then grade level administrator at the Cherry Creek School District.
When she returned to New York, Hindell served as the assistant principal at Eastchester Union Free School District before joining Goshen this April.
Her degrees include a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from the College of Saint Rose, a Master of Arts in the Teaching of Social Studies from Teachers College at Columbia University, and a Master of Education in School Administration from Regis University. The new assistant principal’s certifications are in Secondary Social Studies, School Building Leadership (New York) and School Administration (Colorado).
Hindell said the decision to join Goshen schools was an easy one.
“I came to Goshen because of the reputation, the community, and my knowledge of Goshen as a Cornwall native,” she said.
As a new high school administrator, her goals ensure she will become well-acquainted with the community and the most effective ways to serve the district.
“My goals for my position are to serve GHS students, faculty, staff and community members,” said Hindell. “I would love to help the high school and district continue to grow and meet the needs of all of our students.
“I am looking forward most to getting to know our community and playing a role in the educational journeys of its students, faculty and staff members,” she said.
As a wife and mom of two young boys, Hindell said her hobbies revolve around her family.
“I love to cook, hike and spend time with my family and friends,” she said.
BONUS FACTS: Although she said she loves all food, the new assistant principal said nothing tops a bacon cheeseburger.
And if she could travel back in time, the new administrator said she doesn’t think she would be able to choose just one time period to visit.
“Each part of history has so many fascinating events, people and innovations,” Hindell said. “I would choose to have a time machine that would allow me to traverse all periods in human history.”
Welcome to the Goshen Central School District, Jenelle Hindell! We are happy to have you and look forward to the wonderful impact you will make at Goshen High School.
