Blanket Nation donates 8 blankets to Project Linus

To spread warmth in a cold New York winter, Goshen High School students have joined forces to make blankets for the Project Linus Organization.

Jillian Pucci, a GHS sophomore and president of Blanket Nation, and Advisor Lori Paulus are spearheading the club, which just launched last October.

Project Linus provides handmade fleece blankets to children up to 18 years old in the United States who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. With chapters in every state their blankets are distributed locally.

“Because of Project Linus and our amazing club members, we are able to make blankets in hopes to brighten a child’s day,” said Jillian. “I love what we do as a club, and that we are able to have this opportunity to give back to the people who need it most.”

There are currently 11 members participating in Blanket Nation. Meetings take place every Friday, and all students are welcome to participate. Since Project Linus is a non-profit organization, students at GHS are awarded service hours for their participation.

“By being a part of this club, it opened my eyes to how such a small act, such as making a blanket, can create impactful memories for a child that they will cherish forever,” said Vice President Abby Stock.

Blanket Nation has currently donated eight blankets and is in the process of creating and donating eight more.

Donations of polar fleece material and yarn are always welcome and can be dropped off at GHS.

“Each stitch in a blanket carries a promise of warmth,” said one volunteer, Logan Willems. “When gifted to a child in need, it becomes a promise of love.”
