Judah Gordon and Norah Staunton, seniors at Goshen High School, have been recognized as Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) for their academic promise and dedication to excellence.

Principal Nicholas Pantaleone and Guidance Director Missi Holland presented these students with a Letter of Commendation from GHS and the NMSC on Monday, October 16.

The seniors were selected alongside approximately 34,000 other Commended Students nationwide. Although they will not advance in the 2024 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, they stand among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2024 competition by excelling in the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

“We are immensely proud to recognize the accomplishments of Judah and Norah as commended students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program,” Pantaleone said. “Their dedication and commitment to academic excellence demonstrate outstanding potential for future success.”

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kurtis Kotes is proud to honor the two scholars as well.

“The dedication and perseverance that is required to reach such an incredible milestone must not go without the highest accolades and recognition,” said Dr. Kotes. “The effort that Judah and Norah have put forth to reach this level of accomplishment is a true testament to their commitment to excellence and success.

“We are proud of their incredible accomplishments and so grateful for how they represent our district and community,” he said.
