This week we want to use our #FacultyFriday to shout out Family & Consumer Science Teacher Margaret Storms.
Storms joined the Goshen CSD in September 2007 after an 18-year career as a lead negotiator and trainer for Prudential Financial. Although she enjoyed the job, she said, it just wasn’t her calling.
“I always wanted to be a teacher, so I left,” she said. “I never want to live my life with regrets! The rest is history, as they say. ”
With an undergraduate degree focused in literature, communication and business, and a master’s degree in education, Storms says her main goal as an FACS teacher at C.J. Hooker Middle School is to facilitate connections between academic subjects and real life applications. She believes students should leave FACS with basic, age-appropriate life skills.
This year, Storms says she looks forward to watching students grow and experience the joy of learning.
Outside work, she enjoys water vacations, all sports, kayaking, nature, reading, eating out, and hanging out with family and friends.
