About the Guidance Department
The Guidance Department at the C.
J. Hooker Middle School provides support and assistance to our students
in order to ensure success in academic, social/emotional, behavioral,
and personal development.
Guidance Counselors work
collaboratively with students, parents, teachers and other professionals
in order to guarantee a successful middle school experience for our
Guidance Counselors also provide
support in many areas, including the following:
Coping strategies and problem
Positive peer relationships
Transitioning to and from the
middle school (entering sixth graders and exiting eighth graders)
Counseling services (group,
individual and peer mediation)
The Guidance Department is a
wonderful source of information and resources for students and parents.
Both students and parents are encouraged to contact their guidance
counselor for assistance and to discuss any concerns that they may have,
at any time.
Submit all placement requests in writing in hard copy form. Do
not submit electronically (ie: fax, email) as we will not respond to the
request. Team requests are welcome; however, placement with an
individual teachers and/or friends will not be honored. All requests
need to be received by the guidance office by June 1.
