District makes administrative position changes for
2010-11
July 16, 2010 - Pursuant to this year’s
difficult budget process, district officials decided
not to fill one administrator position for next
year, following the retirement of Goshen
Intermediate School Principal Mary Ann Knight. This
resulted in the reallocation of certain
administrative positions within the district.

Jason
Carter named principal of the Goshen Intermediate
School
July 1, 2010 -
On July 1, Jason Carter officially began his new
position as principal of the Goshen Intermediate
School, replacing Mary Ann Knight, who retired after
five years in the position and 23 years in the
district.

Student collects 1 million pull tabs for Ronald
McDonald House
June 18, 2010 – Ronald McDonald, the popular
clown and fast food icon, visited the Goshen
Intermediate School students on June 15, thanks to
fifth grade student Lilly Weilacher, who recently
facilitated and collected one million pull tabs for
the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson
Valley.

GIS Odyssey team finishes
eleventh at World Finals
June 11, 2010 – The Goshen
Intermediate School Odyssey of the Mind team placed
eleventh out of 73 teams at the World Final
competition at the University of Michigan over
Memorial Day weekend.

Cross
Country team trains GIS students during Youth Club
June 10, 2010 – Over the last several weeks,
approximately 130 students in grades 3-5 from the
Goshen Intermediate School participated in the
Goshen Cross Country Youth Club, where they had the
opportunity to learn the fundamentals of cross
country running, led by the members of the varsity
cross country team.

SAS,
GIS students participate in Family Math Night May 4, 2010
– The Fourth Annual Family Math Night was held
April 15. Hosted by Goshen Intermediate School Math
Specialist Beth Carlino and Scotchtown Avenue
Elementary School Math Specialist Dana Richner, more
than 130 students in grades 2-5 attended the event
with their families.

Fourth graders plant
flowers, tree in honor of Earth Day
May 3, 2010 – In honor of Earth Day, students
in Teegan Kennedy’s fourth grade class at the Goshen
Intermediate School spent the day planting
marigolds, petunias and daisies around trees and the
Goshen Intermediate School sign in the school’s
front lawn.
