The Goshen Youth Jazz Band were asked to perform as the opening act for the Boston Pops on August 22 at Bethel Woods. From 5:30-7:45 p.m., the band played a selection of jazz, gospel, blues and rock-n-roll to an audience of thousands of people.

The 47-member band performed approximately 40 songs. This is the second year the group played at Bethel Woods. Last year, they opened for Dave Brubeck, an American jazz pianist.

Back-to-School notes from the Goshen Intermediate School

The opening of the 2008-09 school year is only days away! Here are some important Back-to-School notes from the Goshen Intermediate School:
  • The Youth Ending Hunger Club is accepting donations of back-to-school items. Drop off your donations August 26-28 or during the first week of school in the main lobby.
  • GIS welcomes Jennifer Gilliard, the third grade leave replacement of Jenn Capozzi.
  • PTO Volunteers are needed for membership sign-ups during orientation nights, September 8 (Grade 3), September 9 (Grade 4) and September 16 (Grade 5). Contact Debbie Marone at 294-4449 or dlmarone@marone.net if you are interested in helping.

We'll see you September 3!

Children’s nutrition is no small issue and the Food Services Department provides nutritious and appealing meals for both breakfast and lunch. In fact, school lunches provide one-third of the recommended dietary intake for calories, protein and vitamins A and C, iron and calcium. On average, a meal contains less than 30 percent of calories from fat and less than 10 percent from saturated fat.

Your child can choose from a variety of items, including milk, juice, cereal and French toast sticks for breakfast; and pizza, tacos, baked ziti and assorted sandwiches for lunch.
