Girls softball and golf teams check in mid-season

(Back)

May 11, 2010 - The Goshen Lady Gladiators Softball team has compiled a 9-5 record. The Lady Gladiators once again clinched a playoff spot with Senior Pitcher/Shortstop Chelsey Locatell throwing a No-Hitter versus Monticello.

Locatell was helped out by the fine defensive play by Cara Vetere, Rachel Quinn, Nicole Ciampo, Kathleen Payne and most of all the continued dominance of catcher Hannah Roebuck, who continues to throw runners out.

The team has really started to click, with solid leadoff hitting by Senior Captain Marilyn Borth. Rylie Carpenter has continued with clutch hitting in key spots. In a solid 3-0 win over Port Jervis, Christine McCormack made some solid catches in the outfield at critical times to help with the win.
Freshman DH Jackie McClorey has showed some power hitting all season also with big hit versus Port Jervis. Sophomore pitcher Elizabeth Iozzino has also thrown solid wins over Burke and Liberty.

Other members of the team that have contributed offensively and defensively are April Crawford, Kristyn Alfonso, Carlin Koch, Courtney Fesko, Emilie Murphy and Sonica Patel. The Lady Gladiators appreciate the support of all our fans and hope everyone comes out to cheer on the team as they play hard in there quest for a second section title.

Girls Varsity Golf Team
The girls’ golf team is enjoying another successful season. The team's league record is currently 6-1 and overall record is 9-3 with only a few matches left for the season.

There have been some very fine performances by all of the match players this year. Seniors Kelsey Yates , Jessica Licciardi and Sarah Camposeo have been steady performers. Sophomores’ Kathleen Farrell and Nicole Glade have had some outstanding rounds; both have lowered their averages by about 10 strokes this year and newcomer Victoria Hale has positively contributed to the team.
