Information for Parents

Parents: Verify your contact information

SchoolMessenger uses the contact information that parents have on file with the district through School Tool to send you notifications. To verify your phone number and email address, log into your School Tool/Parent Portal account.

  1. If you do not know your username and password for School Tool/Parent Portal, or you are not registered for an account, contact your child's guidance counselor (CJH and GHS) or school main office (SAS and GIS).

  2. If you want to register for Parent Portal, fill out the Parent Portal Registration Form (PDF).

  3. If your contact information is incorrect in Parent Portal, fill out the Email, phone number or secondary mailing address change form (PDF).

  4. Parents should return these forms to their child's school building.

Please note that allowing the district to have this information in writing from parents/guardians helps the district safeguard personal information.

Parents: Create your contact preference profile with InfoCenter

Parents are asked to create their own contact preference profile using SchoolMessenger’s InfoCenter. InfoCenter allows you to control how you prefer to be contacted, and also works like a mailbox, giving you a place to review messages you may have missed. Each parent/guardian will need to log into InfoCenter to change his/her own notification preferences.

Signing up is easy – using the email address that you have on file with the district, follow these three steps:

  1. Download the InfoCenter by SchoolMessenger App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Market. Be sure to select the InfoCenter app, NOT the Admin app. You can also access InfoCenter at https://infocenter.schoolmessenger.com

  2. Click the New User button, enter your email address, and create a password. An email will be sent to that address with a secure token.

  3. After authenticating via the token sent to your email, return to InfoCenter and sign in using your email and password.

  2. If you are missing contact information in InfoCenter, contact your school's main office to fill out the necessary form and return it to your school secretary.

Information for Substitute Employees

Substitutes must opt-in to receive SchoolMessenger text message notifications via the contact information that they have on file with the district. Substitutes will not receive e-mails or phone calls.

Fill out the SchoolMessenger for Substitutes form (PDF) and return it to a school secretary or supervisor.

Information about weather alerts

SchoolMessenger alerts about weather-related news, such as school closings, delays and early dismissals, will be sent to the notification preferences selected by parents and employees under the Weather Related Delays/Cancellations alert in their InfoCenter. Parents and employees will be able to select whether to receive a telephone call, text message and/or email to receive weather-related updates.

Please note that as of December 6, 2016, ALL notifications for all parents, guardians and employees are turned ON under the Weather Related Delays/Cancellations alert. Parents and employees must log into their InfoCenter to set their own notification preferences; the district cannot do this for you. See above to learn how to log into InfoCenter.

Who to contact to send an email via SchoolMessenger

I'd like to send an email via SchoolMessenger. Who do I contact?

First, know your audience. SchoolMessenger alerts are sent to Goshen parents and district employees ONLY. Please note that SchoolMessenger is for school news ONLY - the district will not send messages for outside organizations.

From time to time, staff members, coaches, club advisors, PTOs, etc. will want an email message sent to remind parents and/or staff about upcoming events, meetings, fundraisers, etc. If you'd like to send a message, email your respective school-level contact:
