Central School District

District Departments

Learn more about each department of the Goshen Central School District.

The primary purpose of the athletic program in the Goshen Central School District is to promote the physical, mental, social, emotional and moral well being of the participants. It is hoped that these activities in our schools will be a positive force in preparing youth for an enriching and vital role in American life. Learn more

Board of Education

The Board establishes the policies under which the school district will be operated and the Superintendent of Schools is responsible for administering the school program within the context of those policies. Board of Education meetings are held in the Board Room at the Main Street Building on the first and third Monday of each month, except when Monday is a holiday. Learn more

Buildings and Grounds

The Buildings and Grounds Department handles most of its business in-house, versus outsourcing and paying for services. In inclement weather, department employees shovel, plow, sand, and salt walkways, roofs, and sidewalks. They also maintain and repair district vehicles such as trucks, plows, and mowers. Learn more

Food Services

Goshen Schools offers breakfast and lunch to all students. School lunches provide one-third of the recommended dietary intake for calories, protein and vitamins A and C, iron and calcium. On average a meal contains less than 30 percent of calories from fat and less than 10 percent from saturated fat. In recent years Goshen has increased the use of whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables. All cooked products are either baked or steamed; nothing is fried. Learn more

Health and Wellness

School Nurses are located in each school building. Students may come to the Health Office for health information, advice, medical questions, illness, medication administration, physical exams and assessments, care of injuries or short rest periods for headache or minor discomforts. Students who do not feel improved or are unable to attend classes will be sent home. Learn more

Instructional Technology/Technical Services

The Technology Department and Committees will support the GCSD mission by integrating technology to enhance student achievement and literacy; to support standards-based instructional goals and delivery as well as technological literacy for the staff; provide administrative functions and data access through technology; and augment communication within the district and with parents and the community. Pupil Personnel Services

The Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) department is responsible for the evaluation, placement, and service provision of and for students with disabilities as defined by the Part 200 of the Commissioner's Regulations and IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). This act mandates a free and appropriate education in the least restrictive environment. Learn more

Student Registration

Students in grades K-2 will be screened and enter school as soon as possible. Grades 3 -5 will be admitted into school following a tour and screening arranged at registration. Grades 6 -8 will be contacted by the Middle School guidance office for an appointment to get their schedule and date to start school. For grades 9 -12, the registrar will confirm an appointment at the high school guidance office to review the grades/transcripts with the student and parent/guardian for accurate placement.
